Automate recurring finance deliverables with cited, traceable workflows

Agents and workflows that build your packets, reconciliations, and close tasks from your data warehouse, templates, and systems—with every number cited.

In production with a global professional services firm for over a year: thousands of users across multiple countries and regions.

The problem

Recurring deliverables still require manual assembly

Every finance team has the deliverable that eats the weekend: the weekly packet, the board-pack, the variance commentary. The numbers exist. The template exists. Someone still copies one into the other, slide by slide, and prays nothing changed upstream.

Then the CFO asks why Southeast dropped 8% and the answer is "let me check with data."

The assembly is not the job. The judgment is.

How it works

  1. Pick the recurring output. The AP reconciliation. The month-end close reminder sequence. The audit support workflow. Bring a sample of what you would accept.

  2. Connect what it needs. Snowflake or Databricks through a semantic model. The PowerPoint template. Oracle Fusion extracts and the SharePoint folder. Each user's own permissions.

  3. Turn it into an Agent Operating Procedure (AOP). Schedule, sources, template, output shape, and the steps that need a human.

  4. Review, not redo. Every number cited to its table and freshness. Every agent edit attributed and reversible. The CFO edits a headline; the number beneath it does not move.

Use cases

The board-pack and variance report.

A workflow queries the warehouse through the semantic model, fills the company deck template slide by slide, writes the headlines, cites every figure, and emails it at 7:30 AM Monday. A global CPG provider runs this for executives.

AP invoice reconciliation.

Oracle Fusion exports, SharePoint contracts, and inbox attachments merged in one pass; unpaid, underpaid, and overpaid flagged with a citation back to the source document. Replaced a macro-heavy workbook at a Fortune 500 retailer.

Faster close.

Software cost capitalization, ASC 350-40.

Chained workflows: one classifies pull requests, a second escalates edge cases to a reviewer, a third computes the journal entries. Thousands of pull requests in the first pass at a fintech.

What customers say
“Gave Athena the spreadsheet, explained which column I was trying to figure out, and then ten secs it told me... exactly how the calculation was based on the other data.”
Analyst · A global manufacturer
“It's insane the level that you guys are working at speed wise. And it's incredible. You guys are awesome.”
Revenue management lead · A global CPG provider
“As if, you know, an analyst is sitting next to you and building it for you.”
VP Finance & HR · A Fortune 500 retailer
“It's good to understand the capability of the platform. That how far, and how quickly you guys can get these things going [...] that has been impressive overall.”
VP-level AI leader · A Fortune 500 retailer
“Lets us get a lot more out of our data than [...] We can sit on top of all of the data in [our data warehouse] as opposed to just, like, our little ingested, you know, three gigabytes semantic models. I think we have a lot of power here.”
Analytics lead · A Fortune 500 retailer
“He wrote the entire stuff. By itself. And I was there, and I was thinking, alright. If I had to write all this stuff, I mean, I would've spent days, days, days.”
Manufacturing analyst · A global manufacturer
“I send that to the programmer and he said, alright. I read your file. I copied the section of the code because he has the right interface, and it works. Wow. Just like magic.”
Manufacturing analyst · A global manufacturer
“One workspace. All different, let's say, avatars of their output data. Right? Suddenly, it's dashboard. Excel is here. PowerPoint is when it's all together. It's very impressive.”
Global Sustainability lead · A global manufacturer
“Use the Athena platform probably closer to the concept and how it was designed, like, with the spaces architecture where you've got a set of primitives and capabilities, and you bring together the right set of capabilities to solve a task.”
Audit lead · A global professional services firm
“Digital worker, it gets spun up, it gets given access to the toolkits that it needs. It gets given access to the data that it needs. Just exists for the period it needs to exist to perform the task. And then it gets torn back down again afterwards.”

One platform, three ways to build

Agents for the question in the side panel: "explain the Southeast variance." Workflows (AOPs) for the recurring: the packet, the reconciliation, the reminders. Applications for the many: the close dashboard the whole team opens with access included in Athena services.

How It Fits Your Stack

Integrations

Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Azure SQL, Oracle, Workday and ADP extracts, SharePoint, Outlook, Excel. Runs in our cloud or your VPC. Your warehouse permissions are the agent's permissions.

What to plan for

Athena is not an ERP or a consolidation engine. Athena works on top of yours and writes back only where you allow, with approval.

A note on the acronym

Finance teams read AOP as Annual Operating Plan. Ours is the Agent Operating Procedure. Yes, we have run AOPs on your AOP.

FAQ

What can AI agents do for finance?

Run recurring deliverables such as reconciliations, variance commentary, forecasts, board packs, and audit requests, and flag the exceptions for review.

Will finance still own the numbers?

Yes. Every figure is cited to its source, every change is attributed, and nothing goes out without your approval.

Where should we start?

With the recurring deliverable that consumes the most hours each month.

Do we have to change our tools?

No. Agents work with your existing spreadsheets, templates, and systems.

One platform underneath

AGS · Athena Governance System

Records every change by a person or an agent, rolls back one contributor's edits without losing anyone else's, and keeps the model, instructions, and sources behind each agent action.

Palladium · deployment

How the platform is deployed: Athena's managed cloud, your cloud on AWS, GCP, or Azure, on-prem, air-gapped, or GovCloud. Same platform in every option.

How it fits together
