Live Office documents that humans and agents edit together
Word, PowerPoint, and Excel rebuilt as collaborative spaces where agents work in your files—full fidelity, track changes on every edit, byte-stable export.
Proven at scale: 1M-row CSV compared in about 7 seconds, 95 sub-agents editing one workbook without conflict.

The problem
Office files handled as attachments
When Office files are handled as attachments, you send one in, you get one back, and you have three options: use the old one, trust the new one, or rebuild by hand. None of that is review.
Meanwhile the work of every finance, audit, legal, and operations team still lives in.xlsx,.docx, and.pptx. That is not going to change.
The document is the workspace. Treat it like one.

How it works
Open. Ask. Watch. Review.
Open the file in a Studio. Upload or connect from SharePoint, OneDrive, Box, or iManage. Fonts, masters, macros, and formulas survive import.
Ask for the work. In the side panel, in chat, from an AOP, or by email. "Build the deck from this sheet." "Turn these six partner files into the template." "Draft the memo with citations."
Watch it happen. Athena edits through three Python SDKs, Athena's Python library for PowerPoint, athena-openpyxl, and athena-python-docx, that flush every change into the live document. Collaborators see it as it lands.
Review, not redo. Compare in Editor. Track changes attributed to the person or the agent. Roll back a range, a slide, or a paragraph. Export byte-stable (identical binary output).

People and agents
What people and agents each do
Studios. Word, PowerPoint, and Sheets as live documents. Full-fidelity import and export, your templates, track changes, Compare. Sheets handle 1M+ rows with =ATHENA(), =ATHENAQUERY(), =AOP() in the cell.
Capability
People can
Agents can
Together
Studios
Edit as you always have, in the browser or through the Office add-in.
Build the deck, draft the memo, fill the model, in the same file.
Live co-editing; every change signed; accept or roll back by range.
Anything a person can do here, an agent can do with the same permissions, and both land in the same audit trail.
Use cases
Spreadsheet to deck, in your template.
The most common first-week request on Athena. Attach the sheet, name the template, get slides with the right numbers in the right places and a citation chip on each figure. Brand kits import from your website or an existing deck.

Word Studio for memos, contracts, and work papers.
Draft from your firm's templates with citations attached to the supporting passage, so a reviewer inspects rather than reconstructs. Comments and track changes work across human and agent edits. iManage and SharePoint connectors keep the file where it lives.

Athena Sheets: Studios for spreadsheets.
Over a million rows. =ATHENA, =ATHENAQUERY, and =AOP in the cell. Attribution on every save. Sheet Queries that preserve your existing Power Query connections. Deep dive on the child page: Athena Sheets.

PowerPoint Studio with an engine we own.
Byte-stable round-tripping, template adherence, brand kits from a URL, template editing. Data-to-deck from Excel, Databricks, or Snowflake.

Air-gapped Office.
A fully self-hosted Office system that never touches Microsoft. Some customers need exactly that. It is the same product.

VP-level AI leader · A Fortune 500 retailer
“Lets us get a lot more out of our data than [...] We can sit on top of all of the data in [our data warehouse] as opposed to just, like, our little ingested, you know, three gigabytes semantic models. I think we have a lot of power here.”
Analytics lead · A Fortune 500 retailer
“Gave Athena the spreadsheet, explained which column I was trying to figure out, and then ten secs it told me... exactly how the calculation was based on the other data.”

“He wrote the entire stuff. By itself. And I was there, and I was thinking, alright. If I had to write all this stuff, I mean, I would've spent days, days, days.”

Platform
Studios, agents, workflows, and applications
Studios are the surfaces. Agents work in them ad hoc. Workflows (Agent Operating Procedures) produce them on schedule. Applications put them in front of the many.
Governance
Attribution, compare, rollback, and version history
Every save attributed to a human or an agent, with session and message context.
Compare in Editor before anyone presents. Selective rollback.
Restrict an agent to specific ranges of a sheet.
Version history; time-travel to the version a reviewer saw.
What to plan for
Studios are digital twins, not Microsoft Office. Standard documents, formulas, masters, and most macros round-trip cleanly. Exotic embedded objects sometimes do not. We flag what did not import; we do not drop it silently.
FAQ
What are Studios?
Documents, spreadsheets, and presentations that people and agents edit together.
Will files stay compatible with Office?
Yes. Studios work with standard Office files and your templates.
Can I see what the agent changed?
Yes. Every edit is attributed and can be rolled back.
Records every change by a person or an agent, rolls back one contributor's edits without losing anyone else's, and keeps the model, instructions, and sources behind each agent action.
How the platform is deployed: Athena's managed cloud, your cloud on AWS, GCP, or Azure, on-prem, air-gapped, or GovCloud. Same platform in every option.
