Deploy agent-built applications to thousands of users, included in Athena services
Turn any Computer into a production application with versioning, custom domains, SSO access, and per-user permissions, with access included in Athena services.
A Fortune 500 retailer provisioned 10,000 employees, included in Athena services, replacing a per-seat AI assistant with 500 prepaid licenses on the shelf.

The problem
Most people need it, few can build it
The team that builds the agent is small. The people who should benefit are the whole company, plus clients, plus wholesalers who will never get a login to anything internal.
Buying a seat for everyone makes that arithmetic hard. Low-code app builders make it ugly. Custom builds make it slow.
The many should not need a seat to use what the few built.

How it works
Four steps from build to production
Build on a Computer asset. Athena writes the app, NextJS, FastAPI, or your stack, against your data with your connectors. You watch the preview.
Promote to an Application. Each promotion is an immutable version. Staging gets its own URL you can send to a reviewer.
Provision access. Public link, workspace, or SSO group. Custom domain pointed to your Application via DNS CNAME. Guests authenticate through your IdP or a link.
Operate. Roll back in one action. Analytics by user, version, and cost. The agent inside runs as the person using it.

People and agents
What people and agents each do
Apps. A full virtual machine per project with coding agents preinstalled. Describe an app, watch it get built, promote it to your people or your clients.
Capability
People can
Agents can
Together
Apps
Describe the app, review the preview and the code, promote it to production.
Write, test, and fix the code; ship new versions to staging.
Nothing reaches users until a person promotes it. Rollback is one click.
Anything a person can do here, an agent can do with the same permissions, and both land in the same audit trail.
Lifecycle
Computer, Application, and Portal: one asset at three lifecycle stages
These are not three products. They are one thing at three stages.
Computer
Application
Portal
What it is
Where it is built. A sandboxed machine with files, code, a database, a browser, a web server
The Computer promoted to production. Immutable versions, staging, rollback, custom domain
An Application whose audience is outside your directory
Who uses it
The builder and the agent building for them
Your employees, by SSO group. Included in Athena services.
Clients, wholesalers, counterparties, by guest identity. Included in Athena services
Guest through your IdP or a link; sees only their room
Example

The 10,000-user company AI assistant
The audit intake room clients called the "Uber tracker"

Use cases
What teams build and ship
The internal agent portal.
A white-labeled AI assistant over email, documents, chat, and the data warehouse, provisioned by directory group, rolling to 10,000 employees at a Fortune 500 retailer. Saved runs and a proactive daily agenda make it sticky on day two.

The client portal.
Uploads against a checklist, comments, read receipts, live matter or engagement status. External clients use it without an Athena license. An audit team replaced a SharePoint-backed portal with one.

The KAM dashboard from six spreadsheets.
A key-account manager uploads five or six cross-referenced Excel files and gets one view. Included in Athena services. Built for a beverage sales team.

Wholesaler apps with row-level security.
Each partner sees only its own rows. Same app, thousands of tenants.

Your own website.
Ours runs on an Application asset. An agent maintains it: copy, images, and code changed by describing the change, staged, reviewed, promoted.

What customers say
“It's good to understand the capability of the platform. That how far, and how quickly you guys can get these things going [...] that has been impressive overall.”
VP-level AI leader · A Fortune 500 retailer
“The tools have way more capacity than we have the mindset to maximize them at this stage, but, you know, that's a good problem to have.”
Innovation lead · An AmLaw 100 firm
“The developer platform that Athena comes up with [...] basically unlocks the next level engineering productivity.”
VP-level AI leader · A Fortune 500 retailer
“It's insane the level that you guys are working at speed wise. And it's incredible. You guys are awesome.”
Revenue management lead · A global CPG provider
“I can't believe how far you've come in this short period of time. So it's really impressive.”
Assurance Technology Leader · A global professional services firm
“We were able to replicate that in, like, five minutes, I think, which is pretty telling.”
R&D team · A global manufacturer
“It would absolutely be, like, practice altering, right, in terms of what could be done.”
Partner · A global professional services firm
“Does look pretty much very impressive compared to everything else that we're exploring.”
Legal technology lead · A global law firm
“Don't try and build a product. Just take the platform and go and deliver this audit.”

Platform
Three ways to build on one platform
Agents for the ad hoc. Workflows (Agent Operating Procedures) for the recurring. Applications for the many. The same primitives, the same permissions, the same audit trail.
Governance
Governance and what to plan for
The agent inside an Application acts as the signed-in user. Source-system permissions inherited live; nothing copied.
Immutable versions; promote and roll back with zero downtime.
Custom domain and customer SSO; seatless viewers.
Deploy in your VPC, on-prem, or air-gapped with managed-cloud parity.
What to plan for
Applications are not a drag-and-drop builder. You describe the app, the agent writes it, and someone reviews code and preview. Some business users would prefer drag-and-drop widgets; we chose reviewable code for quality and auditability.
FAQ
What can we build?
Internal tools, assistants, dashboards, and client portals, built by agents together with your team.
Who can use them?
Anyone you grant access to by directory group, and external guests by invitation, with access included in Athena services.
How are releases controlled?
Every release is a version with a staging preview and one-step rollback.
Do we own what we build?
Yes. The code can be exported to your own repository.
Records every change by a person or an agent, rolls back one contributor's edits without losing anyone else's, and keeps the model, instructions, and sources behind each agent action.
How the platform is deployed: Athena's managed cloud, your cloud on AWS, GCP, or Azure, on-prem, air-gapped, or GovCloud. Same platform in every option.
